Extra Credit

1. Tapped In- This is an online community of educators and students that use this site for discussion. Students must obtain a signed permission form from their parent/guardian in order to participate. When the permission form is turned in to Mrs. Jolle the student will receive a unique User ID and password in order to access Mrs. Jolle's Tapped In classroom. Students can then read the critical thinking questions posted there and submit an opinion or comment. Comments that show research, reasoning and logic will earn 10 points that can be added to a homework, class work or quiz grade. These points are added at the end of the semester. Since several questions will be posted students can earn up to 100 points during a semester. Tapped In points are not added to test or project grades however.

2. World History students- Then and Now project. Students will select a topic in a recent news article (approved by Mrs. Jolle) and research the roots of the issue in the context of the history of the country the article is about. Prepare a five minute presentation for your class to explain the roots of the issue and it's impact on the country today. Example: Conflict in Iraq today is centered on the separate views of the Sunni and Shi'ite Muslims. How did this separation originally occur?
